Applying a mixed-method qualitative research approach, Kristin Malmcrona Friberg, Sara Borgström, and their colleagues addressed how goals of multifunctional Urban Green-Blue Infrastructure – and specifically sustainable outdoor recreation – are operationalized in urbanizing landscapes. This work was published by Elsevier in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism.

In a symposium celebrating the 30th anniversary of the National City Park in Stockholm, Sara Borgström delivered a speech about the significance of human-nature connections. Stockholm County Administrative Board has recently published a summary of speeches, including Sara’s talk here.

Kristin Malmcrona Friberg and Sara Borgström designed and led two workshops on “Reconnecting Children to Nature in Urbanising Landscapes – How, and What Do We Need to Know?” A number of researchers and practitioners who work on urban human-nature relationships participated in these workshops.

In collaboration with researchers from eight countries, Amin Rastandeh and Sara Borgström formulated the most pressing priorities for the future of peri-urban recreation ecology. This work was published by Springer Nature in Landscape Ecology.

Sara Borgström and her colleagues, ran a session about urban nature stewardship, biodiversity conservation, and outdoor recreation in the Swedish Biodiversity Symposium, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Sara Borgström, in collaboration with Katarina Larsen and Anja Moum Rieser, received a grant for establishing a Swedish Citizen Science Lab for Urban Biodiversity.
